Mary Betsellie, CPM, LM
My Path to Midwifery began when I gave birth at home in 2003. It was a life changing experience that deeply impacted me in ways I never imagined. I became involved with the local home birth support group soon after. within a few years, friends started asking me to support them with their births. This prompted me to seek out more birth wisdom. I became a doula, childbirth educator, placenta encapsulation specialist and started a certification organization for birth-workers. In 2017, I answered the call to midwifery and enrolled at the Midwives College or Utah where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. I am certified through the North American Registry of Midwives and licensed by the state of Arizona.
My Philosophy on Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum: I have a profound reverence for the divine co-creation of life. Our experience of birth can deeply affect the wellbeing of our whole person. Natural physiological birth happens best when thoughtfully supported as needed/wanted while being as undisturbed as possible. Each one of us carries the innate wisdom to carry, birth and care for our baby. I highly value bodily autonomy and the right to birth where we want, with who we want and how we want. The sacred energy of childbirth does not end after the birth of the placenta. The closing of the birthing journey is a process. The postpartum period is just as sacred as the prenatal period and birth..
